2. In short

3. Transcription

When you share a voice message with Scribbn or select an audio file:

  1. The file is converted on your device (mono, 16 kHz) and stored temporarily in the private storage of the app. Temporary files are deleted after processing or the next time the app starts.
  2. The converted audio is sent over an encrypted connection to Azure AI Speech (Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd. / Microsoft Corporation) in the West Europe region, together with the languages you selected. Azure returns the text and the detected language.
  3. If enabled in the settings, the transcribed text (not the audio) is sent to Azure AI Language to find key phrases, to determine sentiment and to create a summary.

Microsoft processes this data on our behalf as a processor under a data processing agreement and only to provide the result. Where data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, this is covered by Microsoft's EU Data Protection Addendum (standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework). Further information: Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Voice messages often contain personal data of the person who sent them. Please only transcribe messages you are entitled to process.

Legal basis: performance of the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

4. Data stored on your device

5. Credits and purchases

Credits (1 credit corresponds to 1 second of audio) can be bought through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Payment is processed solely by the store. We do not receive your name, payment data or email address. The app only checks with the store that a purchase was completed in order to grant credits.

Legal basis: performance of the contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

6. Advertising (Google AdMob)

You can earn credits by watching a rewarded ad. Ads are delivered by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; Google LLC, USA). When an ad is requested, Google may process your IP address, device information, the advertising ID and information about your use of the ad.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, ad-related data is only collected and used after you gave consent in Google's consent dialog (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25 TDDDG). You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the app data (the dialog will then appear again), by resetting your advertising ID in your device settings or at adssettings.google.com. More information: Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses data from apps.

8. What we do not do

9. Retention

We do not keep your audio or transcripts on our systems. Local data stays on your device until you delete it. Microsoft deletes the processed data according to its processor terms.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and you can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. Because Scribbn does not identify you, we may not be able to link data to you (Art. 11 GDPR). Write to hello@scribbn.com and we will help where possible.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, www.lda.bayern.de.

11. Children

Scribbn is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

12. Changes

We update this policy when the app or the law changes. The current version is always available in the app and at www.scribbn.com/privacy.
